This study aims to implement fantasy style special effects commonly depicted in films and video games within the traditional sport of archery by integrating modern lighting, sound control, and sensor technologies. For this purpose, we employed a sensor system capable of detecting the bow’s operational state, and synchronized LED lighting and audio modules with the main phases of archery (preparation, drawing, aiming, and release) to provide both visual and auditory feedback. As a result, nighttime field tests demonstrated that the LED visual effects responded in real time to each instance of drawing and shooting, allowing both observers and participants to intuitively experience the bow’s mechanism and the associated special effects. This integration not only accentuates the entertainment value alongside the conventional athletic and record-based aspects of archery but also contributes to safety by clearly indicating the bow’s operational status during nighttime training. As a case demonstrating the convergence potential of sports and media technologies, the proposed special effects system also stimulates greater interest among archery stakeholders by leveraging a variety of LED lighting effects, thereby enhancing accessibility. Consequently, this research shows promise for further development into new sports and cultural content.
